What’s up with the Blackberry Playbook?

I was interviewed on 900 CHML’s Bill Kelly show on the Playbook and the recall they had to make on a 1000 devices.  The issue was that they will not properly setup correctly.  Blackberry recognized the issue before they all made it to market, but the fact remains that these products have some issues.

I’ve had the luxury of owning one from the day that it came out and even though I have an Android and a iPad.   The Android I think has been the best overall; however doesn’t “link” easily to all my business operations as I run mostly on Apple.  However, the iPad is not that great of a business tool (at least for me and my agency) as of yet.   The Blackberry Playbook does in fact meet the needs….BUT has tons of bugs.  I’ve decided to share these with you, in case you are considering getting the Blackberry.
The Negatives
1. Email – as it’ links through bluetooth referred to as the “Bridge”.  I get on occasion the spinning green wheel.  Very Annoying when I just want to read my email.
2. Battery – this sucker drains my Bold AND my Playbook.  Way to much energy needed to operate.   I had it at 24% battery and in 10 minutes was down to 15%.
3.  Windows – Yes, it can multi-task….to a limit.  More than 5 windows open….forget…no more.  Won’t open any more than that.
4. PDF – Love that I can open PDF easily and read Word Documents and Excel Documents easily and can edit them as well.   They do however close occasionally without warning.   Scroll…VERY slowly.

POSITIVES
1. Easy to connect – when linking the Tethering 3Gs it is always a simple and works amazing and quick.   LOVE THAT!
2. The Bridge – as much as it’s annoying, I do love the feature if it worked.  Just has lots of bugs.  When they are fixed, this will be a great feature of this product.
3. Browser – Works Flash as well as most websites.   Doesn’t work with Netflix yet, but that’s Netflix issue.  :)  Java, and all other websites will work fine.
4. Quality – the video quality is amazing.  I can’t complain on this at all.

In summary.  The Playbook is amazing…just not ready for the market and needs some upgrades.   However, if they can fix these little issues it has value on the block.
