Revenue Canada – Sneaky way of NOT doing their job

I received my statement of interim papers from our friends at Revenue Canada only to read that I will be receiving  my  statements “less often”, as they are trying to save on paper and the environment.  I can however go online at anytime to review the up to the date information.

I would like to also contribute to this philosophy, however I’m not sure how the government would appreciate me sending my taxes “less often”, but they are more than welcome to look online to see the most accurate up to date taxes outstanding.   As such, I thought I would share with you my letter to Revenue Canada and when you get from our fine Government body these well worded letters, be reminded that it is their responsibility to use the most reliable source in providing us information.   Canada Post!   NOTE: this is ironic as Canada Post is now about to go on strike, but that isn’t our problem this is something they need to resolve themselves.

RE: Statement of Interim Payments notice May 7, 2011

To Whom It May Concern:

Please note that I received a statement of interim payments on May 24, 2011, and it states that my statement of interim payments will be mailing “less often”, and that I am to check the website.

It is a service of which the Government of Canada, and Canada Revenue Agency is to submit in writing the statements by Canada Post to my office as necessary and that my responsibility is to receive your information not to be “seeking” the information.  I’ve attached a copy and highlighted from your letter in case you’re unfamiliar with what I’m referring to.

I would kindly ask that you please continue to mail by the trusted Canada Post service the statement of interim payments to my office on a REGULAR basis and not to slack on your responsibility in doing your job.

You ask of my small business and my staff to ensure that we make our payments and on time, or we shall see the penalty and I’m sure that if I sent Canada Revenue Agency a letter stating that I was going paper-less and you would be receiving your taxes “Less-Often” but you could check to see how much I owe at your convenience online it would not go over well.

I have sent you this letter by Canada Post and trust that it has safely arrived at your location without error of getting caught in your SPAM, of electronic power going out, or the paper didn’t “link” to the wrong location and you didn’t have to navigate or do a search online to find it.

Thank you for your continued service in providing me my “mailed” Statement of interim payments by Canada Post on a regular basis as you have in the past.

Respectfully yours,

Adam Oldfield
President
