New domain name options…anything you want!

It was announced on June 20th that the ICANN (Internet Corporation of Assigned names and Numbers) is launching gTLD (Generic Top Level Domains) to the public.   This means that you can NOW register your own end domain.  No more .com, .ca or other “fixed” domains on the market.

Example, you can register  .apple  and everything underneath can be your own setup locations.  ie. Newyork.apple would be the domain for the New York store.  The interesting thing is that when you visit the domain on your mobile device it would automatically call.

This is going to be a huge change in the market place where now you can control all sorts of aspects.   A new business could be .internet and then you offer this to many people to purchase.   The cost of domains will basically go down as the market will be flooded with various options.  The key to this is that you can’t just get one.  You need about $185,000 to start and up to $500,000 to finalize it.  The best part is that you can have your own controlled domain that you can use and control and further never have to worry about registering a .com again!

I’ll post more in the coming future as it starts to roll out.
