Am I missing something? Do people not need business?
WoW….I want to remind all businesses that we are in a recession. That means that every dollar earned is worth gold to paying bills, staff and yourself. I was getting some small items for the house (fixing the sink) and needed some items. I’m not the most handy man on the planet, but I figured I would try to replace the sink. I head to the Canadian Tire (as it took me like 3 hours to replace a sink before I realized I needed a part). I got there at 4:50pm. Remember it’s Sunday and 5pm is the closing time. There is a guy standing at the door….just itching to lock the doors. I walk up, (fully knowing I had 10 min to get the part) and was stopped to be told that the store is closed. Closed? There’s 10 minutes left. I had to negotiate with him for 3 min about the time I was going to take to get the $10.00 part. He finally, reluctantly, approved me to come in. As I’m walking in, there was about 5 people behind me, also running a bit behind obviously.
I totally appreciate that people want to go home on Sunday, however in this economic time I just couldn’t help but ask myself. How much in sales was lost from the 5 people that were told “sorry, were closed”. Before it was actually closed. The key to making it through these rough times, is the ability to swallow a bit of your time when people are coming to buy your product.
That’s my 2 cents…but then again…this coming from a guy that loves to work.
