Adam Oldfield – sort of funny story to share
I recently had knee surgery, as I over did it on the running. Apparently, you can’t sit for 8 years and then start running like a mad man and expect not to be hurt. Long and short of it, I busted up something in my knee.
I had surgery the last week at McMaster Hospital, and it was a busy day. I was informed when I arrived that they were having 67 day surgeries. Wow….ok. The kind nurse took me to the back and gave me some robes and quickly told me to undress. Undress I did. I walked out, and they poked me with the IV, and then I was carted off with 3 others down the hall to the OR.
I then had my Doctor confirm it was my left knee he was working on (and he marked it with a sharpie to confirm), then we walked into the OR. I then took off the robes (thinking this is what you are to do), and all the Doctors and nurses stared at me with shock. I then heard the nurse say “Why are you naked? You’re having knee surgery”. Kind of wish they told me that when I was getting undressed. Following that they told me that I can keep my robes on. I was thankful for that request, as it was damn cold in the room.
Well…all that said and done. I’m healing and limping with my cane to a speedy recovery and I’ll be dancing to MC Hammer “Can’t Touch This” to a crowd in no time!
